The Steps to Building Your Website

Building a website for your company is really exciting, and we'd be very happy to work with you and help see your business grow.  Here's how we'd work together to build your website.

Step 1: Initial Consultation to Establish Goals

Before we do anything on the computer, we sit down together to find out exactly what you want your website to do for you, who your audience is and what the scope of the project will be.  We also go through a few of your favourite websites to see what it is you're looking for in the design.

Step 2: Sitemap Creation

The content of your website needs to be organized and well-planned.  This step involves creating the list of pages to appear on your site and organizing them in a hierarchy that can be drawn as a tree, or "Sitemap".

Step 3: Wireframes

We take the Sitemap we just built in the previous step and come up with a visual outline or "wireframe" of what the homepage and inside pages of your site will look like.  The means sketching out on a piece of paper the approximate areas where each section will appear on your site.

Step 4: Designing the Custom Look & Feel

FieldCo’s graphics design team will create three different design concepts for the new website.   We will work with you to help choose the elements you like best from each of the three, and come up with a fourth and final design.  Once we've finalized the design for the homepage, we work together to design the interior page templates.

Step 5: Content Creation

If you don't already have the content written for each page, now is the time to create it.  FieldCo has a team of professional copywriters that can assist or do the entire job for you.  We can also rework existing content if you're not completely satisfied with what you already had.

Step 6: Programming

Now's the time our programmers and graphics designers work together at length to build the actual website.  We publish it at a test location that's visible only to you so you can see our work in process.

Step 7: Testing & Review

Once the programming is complete, we test it thoroughly for all reasonable scenarios.  We'll also have you look at it and usually we go back and forth several times to tweak some pages, design ideas and content updates.

Step 8: Launch

Now that the work is complete, tested and approved, we're ready to launch your new website!  Either we can throw a noisy launch party and announce it weeks in advance with a full marketing campaign and email blast, or we can launch it quietly at night while flipping a switch.  It's up to you.
