New Hosting Account Setup Information

Welcome to FieldCo web and email hosting!

When your domain account was created you received an email that gave your your username, password, and some other information. This page explains what you can do with this information.

Note: This page applies to most of our standard hosting accounts. If your account is not a typical account, we will let you know when we create it, and you will know of the changes that are required. If you aren't sure if your existing account is standard or not, please contact us.

Here is a sample email that we'll use for the instructions below:

Hi Tom -

Your account has been created and it will be active worldwide in less than two days. Here is your account information:

domain: yourdomain.com

ftp username: TomJones
ftp password: 1mNotUnusual

email username: tom.jones
email password: 1mNotUnusual
primary email address: info@yourdomain.com

Your domain account is special in that it allows ftp access to your website's root folder and it has an email address attached to it. If you have more email users for your domain, the users associated with them will not have ftp access.

To access your email you have two options: webmail clients and desktop clients.

Webmail clients

standard access:
- http://pop.yourdomain.com/ControlPanel/mail/
secure access: one of
- https://fieldco3.securesites.net/ControlPanel/mail/
- https://fieldco4.securesites.net/ControlPanel/mail/

Desktop clients

To check your mail using desktop clients, use the following servers:

Mail Servers
Protocol	Server name
POP (incoming)	`pop.yourdomain.com`
SMTP (outgoing)	`smtp.yourdomain.com`

Your ISP may require that you use their SMTP server. Click here for help configuring your mail client.

FTP information

You can upload your website's files directly to your ftp server using the following information:

username	`your_userid` (e.g. `TomJones`)
password	`your_password` (e.g. `1mNotUnusual`)
server	`ftp.yourdomain.com`
web directory	`/www/yourdomain.com/`

If you would like to upload your website before your account is accessible (during the 2 days of DNS propagation), you can replace ftp.yourdomain.com as the ftp server with one of the following: fieldco3.fieldco.net or fieldco4.fieldco.net. Click here for help with ftp settings.
